🏀 Multi-Game Options & Age Groups
One of the unique benefits of SEM Magic is our multi-game and competition flexibility. Players can compete in UP TO THREE TEAMS / COMPETITIONS while attending just one training session per week.
Staggered discounts apply to second and third team/competition registrations, with discounts covering applicable game and coaching fees.
All players will be placed in the appropriate age group based on their YEAR OF BIRTH. Playing in the correct age group supports SEM Magic’s commitment to long-term player development, participation and retention.
Members wishing to play outside their natural age group will be assessed as part of the membership application process, with the outcome communicated prior to registration.
The club retains final authority to approve or decline any age-group exemption, subject to applicable league rules, competition regulations and requirements of the sport’s governing bodies.

SEM Magic's Squad-Based Training system sets us apart from other clubs. Instead of isolated team practices, our teams train together across multiple courts, fostering a collaborative and consistent development environment. Coaches work as a team to deliver a unified training program, ensuring players develop at their own pace while becoming familiar with the club’s environment, fellow players, and coaching staff.
🏀ROOKIE SQUAD
✨Primary Age Groups: U8 teams, entry-level U10s
✨Focus: Introduction to basketball fundamentals
🏀FRESHMAN SQUAD
✨Primary Age Groups: U10 teams, advanced U8s, entry-level U12s
✨Focus: Development of fundamentals, introduction to transition offense, player roles
🏀SOPHOMORE SQUAD
✨Primary Age Groups: U12 teams, advanced U10s, entry-level U14s
✨Focus: Player roles, introduction to team offense, defensive principles
🏀JUNIOR SQUAD
✨Primary Age Groups: U14 teams, advanced U12s, entry-level U16s
✨Focus: Team offense, SEM Magic “style of play,” building team principles
🏀SENIOR SQUAD
✨Primary Age Groups: U16+ teams, advanced U14s
✨Focus: Expansion and development of all individual and team-based principles of play
🏟️ Training Sessions and Schedule
Most training sessions will continue to be held Jubilee Park Stadium (Frankston). Sunday training sessions will be held at McClelland College (Frankston)
Days and times for each team/squad will be announced shortly after team selections. We anticipate the following training schedule:
✨ Tuesday: 4:00-5:00pm & 5:00-6:00pm
✨ Thursday: 4:00-5:00pm & 5:00-6:00pm
✨ Friday: 4:00-5:00pm & 5:00-6:00pm
✨ Sunday: 3:00-4:30pm & 4:30-6:00pm*
ℹ️ IMPORTANT NOTES:
🔹Days and times are indicative only and may be subject to change based on program size and venue availability.
🔹Attendance at training is a mandatory requirement for all members.
🔹Failure to meet this obligation may result in reduced playing opportunities and/or refusal of membership in future seasons.
🔹 Sunday Sessions: For the Summer 2026/27 season, the club may trial 90-minute Sunday training sessions, with players attending two sessions within each three-week cycle.
🗓️ Team Selection & Squad Trials
All players are required to attend a squad trial session. Attendance is compulsory and forms an important part of the team and squad selection process.

ℹ️ IMPORTANT NOTES
🔹 All trial sessions will be held at McClelland College, Frankston.
🔹 Each age group/competition squad will attend one approximately 1-hour trial session.
🔹 Individual session times will be confirmed approximately one week prior to trials.
🔹 Players competing in multiple competitions (e.g. U12 Boys Saturday and Tuesday) may be required to attend multiple trial sessions.
🔹 In some circumstances, a trial may not be required (e.g. where only one team is entered in a particular competition).

Players are allocated to teams and training squads in accordance with our Player Development: Team & Squad Selection policy. The criteria for selection includes (but is not limited to) the following:

Playing in the correct age group based on year of birth aligns with the club principles for long term player development and retention. Unless discussed and approved prior, all players will be placed into correct competition based on their age.

Failure to adhere to these policies may result in denial of registration for future seasons, and in serious or egregious cases, immediate withdrawal from current programs.
💳 Summer 2026/27 Membership Fees
ALL-INCLUSIVE BASKETBALL FOR AROUND $23 PER WEEK!
At SEM Magic, our simple single-fee model covers everything—team registration, match fees (including finals), court hire, coaching, social functions, and administration—all for around $23 per week.
This means exceptional value with:

COMPETITION & ASSOCIATION FEES:
💲 BV License = $32 per player (17yrs and under)
💲 BA Levy = $5.50 per player
💲 PlayHQ Service Fee = 1.89%

💰 Payment Plans & Financial Aid

PayPal Pay in 4 is conveniently integrated into the PlayHQ registration form, allowing members to spread their fee payments over four fortnightly installments. We encourage all members to take advantage of this service to pay their fees in full.
📅 PLAYHQ INSTALMENT PLANS
NEW FEATURE – SEM Magic is pleased to offer members the convenience and flexibility of an inbuilt monthly instalment option.
Members can choose to pay their registration fees through:

This option provides members with greater flexibility to manage their registration payments throughout the season.

Ready to join SEM Magic for a rewarding and memorable basketball experience?
Before registering, all prospective and returning members are required to complete the Summer 2026/27 Membership Application Form as the next step in the process. This ensures every member understands and aligns with the club’s principles and expectations before joining. Once your application is submitted, you can expect a response from us within 2–3 business days.
