South East Melbourne Magic Overview
Founded in 2022, South East Melbourne (SEM) Magic is a progressive and innovative not-for-profit basketball club, proudly based at Jubilee Park Stadium. As a community-focused organisation, our junior program uses a unique Squad Training system that fosters collaboration between players and coaches, creating a unified and supportive club environment.
The club features a diverse range of teams from Under-8s to Under-21s, competing across multiple associations. Our dynamic approach to team and player development allows athletes to participate in multiple teams and leagues, enhancing both growth and opportunity.
In addition, a broad suite of development programs operates under the SEM D-League banner, offering opportunities for players at all levels — from beginners to elite and high-performance athletes.
We also provide senior domestic competition opportunities for men and women, encouraging family and friends of SEM Magic to get involved and be part of the club experience.
Junior Domestic Club
At SEM Magic, players are placed in teams based on age, ability, and experience — and are continually monitored and assessed as they develop under the SEM Magic Style of Play. As players grow, they may move between teams to ensure they are placed in the most suitable training and competition environment.
Our Squad Training system brings together multiple teams within each age group to train collaboratively. Sessions focus on full-court drills, skill development, and scrimmages, all guided by consistent club-wide principles and coaching methods. Each age group is led by an experienced Squad Coach, and all appointed coaches meet minimum experience standards. Parents with suitable backgrounds are encouraged to get involved.
We currently offer teams for boys and girls from Under-8 to Under-21, competing across several local basketball competitions. Games are scheduled across both weekdays and weekends, with players able to choose one or more competitions to participate in.
Applications are open year-round, with registration periods taking place twice a year for the Summer season (Terms 4 & 1) and Winter season (Terms 2 & 3). Late entries and training-only options are also available throughout the year.

Player Development Programs
The South East Melbourne D-League (SEM D-League) offers a diverse range of basketball programs tailored to players of all ages, skill levels, and experience levels.
From Aussie Hoops for beginners to High Performance and Strength & Conditioning for advanced youth athletes, our programs provide structured, high-quality coaching in a positive and inclusive environment. Whether you're just starting out or striving to elevate your competitive edge, SEM D-League is committed to helping every athlete grow, improve, and enjoy the game.

Senior Domestic Club
SEM Magic isn’t just for juniors! We welcome players aged 15 and older to join our senior domestic teams. Whether you’re an experienced athlete or new to the game, our senior program offers a fun, friendly, and inclusive club environment.
We currently have men’s and women’s teams competing in the Frankston & District Basketball Association, with games typically scheduled between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
Additional playing opportunities in other competitions or on alternative days may be available, depending on interest.
